Hi my name is Morag Stent and I am one of the Directors of Applause Youth Theatre.
We have been running this group since 2004 every Sunday (during term time) at Dorking Halls. We pride ourselves in seeing the children grow in confidence and self esteem. Many children start aged 8 and will still be there at 16 years of age winning awards in drama festivals and playing key roles in our annual musical and variety show.
Applause is all about the performances rather than classes we find most of the benefits are during rehearsals… With learning lines, songs, adapting to characters and building confidence to get on to a stage in front of an audience. We pride ourselves with being a team everyone mixes at some time or another and the children support one another, this is why we win ensemble awards and by occasionally mixing age groups we can work as a ‘theatrical family’.
